Austin, TX  The IMO Med-Select Network® was recognized at the 21st Annual Texas Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference in Dallas as a new and leading network with positive outcomes and trends in some very critical categories, including Return-to-Work and Health Outcomes.

The complete report and an IMO highlights sheet are provided below for download.  “When an additional twelve months of data are added to the 2010 results, the average per-claim cost for Non-network injured employees increased by 41%, while the average for Networks increased by 27%.”  This coupled with Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) savings not shown this year, anticipates escalated medical exposure in the Non-network environment in 2012.

Overall, Networks are now seeing a positive return when managed care is effectively executed and maintained.  Also keep in mind that the claim count volume for each network varies and that this should also be considered when comparing.

Here are some highlights:

1. IMO had the 3rd lowest average medical cost per claim (six months post injury) of the nine 1305 Networks audited. (TDI, p. 11)

2. IMO is one of only two Networks (1305 and 504) with average medical costs lower than Non-network in 15 of the 19 categories, including all pharmacy groups. (TDI, p. 5)

3. IMO’s average utilization rates were lower than Non-network in 10 of 16 categories, better than any 1305 Network audited. (TDI, p. 5)

4. IMO’s average hospital costs for all claims was the lowest among the 1305 Networks and 16% lower than Non- network. (TDI, p. 13)

5. IMO’s percentage of injured employees who indicated that they went back to work at some point after their injury (94%) was the highest of any Network (1305 or 504) or Non-network. (TDI, p. 22)

6. IMO had the highest percentage of injured employees working at the time of the survey (84%) than any Network (1305 or 504) or Non-network. (TDI, p. 22)

7. IMO’s non-emergency first time visit services (84%) were provided within 7 days. (TDI, p. 21)

8. IMO had the lowest average number of weeks a claimant was off work among all 1305 Networks and Non- network. (TDI, p. 23)

9. IMO had the highest physical functioning scores than any Network (1305 or 504) or Non-network for injured employees. (TDI, p. 24)

10. IMO had the highest mental functioning scores than any 1305 Network or Non-network for injured employees. (TDI, p. 24)

11. IMO’s injured employees were in 81% agreement with their Treating Doctor’s care. (TDI, p. 18)

12. Note: The timeframe of the Report Card data call was June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010 = IMO’s 974 claims. As of August 31, 2011, a total of 2,824 claims have accessed our Network.
