Utilization Review Nurse

The UR Nurse will review medical treatment records of patients with a work-related injury to make a determination on medical necessity for services requiring preauthorization. The Nurse will process requests for a preauthorization determination from health care providers or injured employees and review clinical data to determine if the request can be approved as medically necessary. The Nurse will utilize standard evidence-based practice guidelines and best treatment practices as well as compile, process and maintain medical records of injured employees in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the health care system.

  • Must adhere to and meet state regulated guidelines and mandated timeframes
  • Maintains current knowledge and requirements as related to Texas Workers’ Compensation rules
  • Accessing, retrieving and data entry in the CAT system
  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 codes and medical terminology
  • Utilizes critical thinking and applies sound judgment and assessment skills for decisions
  • Utilization of  problem-solving techniques and conflicts resolution skills
  • Sets priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of the job
  • Maintaining and exhibiting excellent customer service
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication

Field Case Managers – Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida

The Field Case Manager is responsible for managing case management files following IMO protocols and in compliance with clients’ directives. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide variety of creativity and latitude is expected.

This is an Independent Contractor role and hourly rate ranges from $45-$55 and pays travel and wait time,  based on experience and credentials.

  • Submit 32-35 billable hours/week carrying a caseload of 25-35 cases
  • Represents IMO in a professional manner at all times to our clients and to assigned claimants
  • Attends file reviews as directed by Regional Supervisor
  • Adheres to IMO’s performance measures for Case Management Services

Director of Field Case Management

The Director of FCM position is responsible for oversight of Case Managers both TCMs and FCMs. Ensuring quality assurance, oversight of provider education, customer service and RTW outcomes while utilizing Evident Based Guidelines (EBG) and performance measures.  Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience in Workers’ Compensation, Case Management and Leadership/Supervising of employees.  Full time position with benefits, PTO, holiday pay and matching 401(k).

  • Oversight of case management team (IC/FTE), work closely with President and Executive Director of Account Management
  • Establish field case management criteria and effective communication with clients and internal departmental (UR/MBR/Network) interfaces
  • Build a FCM team that allows an oversight function
  • Enhance ways to improve communication via reports, technology and cost savings benchmarks
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Account Management, Utilization Review Manager and Quality Assurance Manager and other supervisors as warranted
  • Transition/share oversight function as needed once staffing for case management is in place
  • Attend file reviews for all accounts case management services are rendered
  • Assist with trouble shooting files with client to discuss potential FCM involvement
  • Manage Case Management list of IC with current assignment protocols noted
  • Assist with coverage when needed for case managers
  • Maintain caseload of 5-10
